The Armidale School has entered this year’s national knock-out FFA Cup, as the region’s first and only non-premier league team.
The FFA cup will provide a new level of competition for the TAS Firsts, who were last year’s undefeated Armidale District Football Association First Grade premiers.
Ten teams will play in the Northern Inland division, all except TAS having played as part of the Northern NSW Football Premier League competition. TAS will be up against Tamworth FC, with the winner then playing the winner of East Armidale FC versus Oxley Vale FC.
It’s important for their development to be able to play at that level,” Football coordinator Luke Polson said.
TAS Captain of Football Hadrian Wright agrees.
It will give us the chance to play some better teams, on the back of a great season last year, and hopefully that success will roll over,” he said.
“If we train hard then I think we will have a chance – the boys are taking it very seriously.”
